A tiger mother lost her cubs from premature labour. Shortly after she became depressed and her health declined, and she was diagnosed with depression. So they wrapped up piglets in tiger cloth, and gave them to the tiger. The tiger now loves these pigs and treats them like her babies.
Sigh, I really liked this idea and thought it was the cutest thing ever until I did a bit more research. Reality is just sad.
“Actually, this wasn’t a study. This zoo is known for it’s cross-species exhibits. The pigs don’t even need the costumes, the costumes are just there for the entertainment factor. I also read somewhere [but it’s possible it’s untrue] that the tiger was raised by a pig [another cross-species exhibit at the zoo]. Although I do think it’s cute, it’s sad that this video was not the result of human compassion, but for human’s enjoyment through exploitation.”
